Description: model in Tyrolean style, two-piece upper and lower plates, head from pear wood in German style, rosewood pegs, varnish of brown color on a light foundation. The instrument sounds large, full and load-bearing tone. Designed for solo play and ensemble performance.

Provenance: purchased from amateur luthier Władysław Gelard from Połczyn-Zdrój 7 Feb. 1962. It was to come from the collection of Count Ignacy Halk Ledóchowski from Vilnius, purchased from a luthier by his uncle Ledóchowski. Used in M. Karłowicz string quartet in Vilnius, founded by Ledochowski’s wife, Wanda, conservatory prof. and a famous violinist. In 1932 viola was bought by Samuel Berlsztelman, prof. of Jewish Music Institute in Vilnius, who have corrected the viola, reducing the sound. Władysław Gelard purchased the viola later in exchange for other instrument.
Description: Stradivari’s model, it has the characteristics of an Italian school, two-piece upper and lower plates. Individual scroll, dark orange lacquer, slightly shaded. Instrument designed for solo and ensemble performance.
